For 2015, we are using a volunteer scheduling site called VolunteerSpot to schedule and manage the CSA's volunteer shifts this season.

We will enter all of the shifts that members sign up for during the registrations, and you will receive an e-mail once that happens. This e-mail acts as a confirmation of your shift and there is no need to further confirm. Please see the following tips to make using Volunteer Spot more efficient for everyone.

Harvest Astoria Members -- Here's how to reschedule or add additional shifts:
  • Go to VolunteerSpot.com, click on "Find My Sign Up" and use the E-mail address that you gave us on your CSA registration form. If you sign up to VS with a different e-mail address, it won't recognize that you're signed up for specific shifts.
  • You will receive an email link to the Harvest Astoria Volunteer Calendar. Look for dates with available spots in the shift (e.g. "Filled: 8 of 10" -- this means 2 spots are still open for this shift).
  • It seems that it's possible to request a shift swap for a full shift. Unless you have already made arrangements with another member, we politely request that you avoid rescheduling for an already full shift. We have nearly two full months of availability in September, October, and early November that are desperately in need of being filled, lest we have to send out weekly "Please help us this week" e-mails at the end of the season.
  • If you're rescheduling, please pay attention to which shift you're volunteering for. You will be given the option to reschedule for either morning or evening shifts, and while we always need more folks in the morning, a good number of our members can't make the 8.30 am - 10.30 am shifts, and no-shows make shifts difficult for our other volunteers.
  • You should receive an automated e-mail the Monday before your scheduled shift as a reminder. Again, this will be sent to the e-mail address that you used to sign up for the CSA.
